Itinerary
Day 1 Arusha / Moshi (890 m/2,920 ft)
When clients arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport or Dar es Salaam International Airport, you will be met at the airport by our representatives and transferred to the hotel in Arusha or Moshi or whichever clients preferred place for overnight. You can start your trek any day, any month of the year!
Day 2 Moshi Town – Londorossi Park Gate
After breakfast, drive from Moshi to the Londorosi Park Gate, elevation 7’300 ft. The drive is about 5 hours. Continue driving up towards to the Gate after registration, you will drive back from Londorosi park gate to Starting point where you will start your hike to the First Cap which is Big Tree, “Mti Mkubwa” campsite.
The drive through the Shira plateau is one of the best opportunities to see big game on Kilimanjaro. At approximately 11’000ft elevation you will stop for lunch break. Then continue hiking and you will arrive at the campsite at around, set up camp, and eat dinner during early evening. Arriving at the Camp it depend the weather in this Route. You will have Dinner and overnight at Big Tree, “Mti Mkubwa” campsite
Day 3 Big Tree Camp – Shira Camp
On this day you will need to wake up at around 06:30am get prepared and after breakfast, breaks the camp, and begins the hike at around 08:00am from Big Tree “Mti Mkubwa” camp to Shira 1 campsite, elevation of 12’500ft. This is usually takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, but at this camp required for adequate acclimatization. The west face of Kibo volcano (usually referred as Kilimanjaro) looms above the campsite.
Have lunch, set up camp, rest or take a day hike, and eat dinner during early evening. This hike traverses the lower moorland where large shrubs and wildflowers dominate 5 the landscape. You will have you Diner and Briefing for the next day with your Guide. After Dinner and briefing you will overnight at Shira Campsite.
Day 4 Acclimatization Day
This day you will have an Extra Day for Acclimatization. Your day will start walking from Shira Camp to Half way to Baranko hills and return back to Shira camp. Some Climbers Likes to spend extra Day at Shira camp, walking around and stretching muscles and exercising around the Shira Camp.
During Dinner time at around 07:00pm you will have briefing of the preparation for next day which you will hike from Shira Camp to Baranko Camp. Your Guides will give you hints, what to wear as you will be hiking to a freezing point. After Finishing Dinner you overnight at Shira Camp.
Day 5 Shira Camp (3,840 m/12,500 ft) to Lava Tower (4,630 m/15,190 ft) to Barranco Camp (3,950m/12,960 ft) 15 km, approximately 7 hours walking on Semi-Desert
Wake up at 06:30am, start preparing gears and get ready for breakfast at 07:00am. This day is very sensitive day, you will hike east up a steepening path above the highest vegetation toward Kilimanjaro looming mass. After several hours, you walk through a rocky landscape to reach the prominent landmark called Lava Tower at 4,630 m/15,190 ft.
This chunky remnant of Kilimanjaro earlier volcanic activity is several hundred feet high, and the trail passes right below it. There are numerous photo opportunities on this hike, especially if the walls are festooned with ice. On this day, be careful to notice any signs of altitude sickness. You will have dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp
Day 6 Acclimatization Day
This day will have an Extra Day for Acclimatization at Karanga Valley. The hike from Barranco Camp (3,950 m/12,960 ft) to Karanga Valley (4,200 m/13,780 ft) will be a short day walk which is approx 250 meters high walk from Barranco to Karanga Valley and the walk can take approx 2-3hrs walk, but when you arrive at Karanga Valley you will have more time to acclimatize and do more activities and you will plan with the Guide after he check the health of every climber.
You will acclimatize here to hike half way to Barafu Camp and return back to Karanga Camp where there is Low altitude and best place to get use to the weather before the next day where you will continue hiking to Higher Camp. In the evening you will get a briefing, on what to prepare yourself for next day hiking to freezing point. After finishing Dinner you overnight at Karanga Valley Camp.
Day 7 Karanga Valley (4,200m/13,780 ft) to Barafu Camp (4,550 m/14,930 ft) approx 3 hrs walk in Alpine Desert
After spending a night at the Karanga Valley, you will climb this awesome obstacle, which turns out to be easier than it looks. The last water on the route is in the Karanga Valley; there is no water at Barafu Camp, even though Barafu is the Swahili word for “ice.” The famous snows of Kilimanjaro are far above Barafu Camp near the summit of the mountain. Your tent will be pitched on a narrow, stony, wind-swept ridge, so make sure that you familiarize yourself with the terrain before dark to avoid any accidents. Prepare your hiking gears and warm clothing for your summit climb. You will start the summit hike walk at around 11:00pm from Barafu Camp to Summit.
Day 8 From Summit / Uhuru Peak (5,895 m/19,340 ft) descend to Mweka Camp
Your 6-hour climb northwest up through heavy scree between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers to Stella Point on the crater rim is the most challenging part of the route for most climbers. You will reach Stella Point (5,685 m/18,650 ft) at around 05:30am and you will stop for a short rest and a chance to see a supremely sanguine sunrise.
On the summit, you can enjoy your accomplishment and know that you are creating a day that you will remember for the rest of your life. After your 3-hours descent from the summit back to Barafu Camp, you will have a well-earned but short rest, collect your gears, and hike down a rock and scree path into the moorland and eventually into the forest to Mweka Camp (3,100 m/10,170 ft).
Dinner, and washing water will be prepared, and the camp office sells drinking water, soft drinks, and chocolates! After Dinner you will overnight at Mweka Camp. FB
Day 9 Mweka Camp (3,100 m/10,170 ft) to Mweka Gate (1,980 m/6,500 ft) to Moshi (890 m/2,920 ft) 15 km, approximately 3 hours walking in Forest
After a well-deserved breakfast, it is a short, scenic, 3-hours hike back to the park gate. At Mweka Gate, you can sign your name and add details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Some climbers’ likes to get their Certificates at the Hotel or where they will be staying and have a celebration Dinner and drinks with their Porters and Guides and get Certificates with photos of a Give presenting the Certificates to each member of the Group for Good Memory after accomplish the Dream
Day 10 Moshi
Depart to the airport or other destinations in Tanzania like Wild life safaris or the beaches in Zanzibar Island, also can visit Kenya in Amboseli Park. We can arrange as many activities for reasonably priced trips for safaris around Tanzania, East Africa and all Africa as whole
